Coding assistant and more

For people building their own agents/apps at home using all opensource resources, what LLM do you rely on most for helping generate code? My only non opensource component is using a $20 Gemini subscription to help me with the python code as it's something I haven't learned to do on my own. But now I actually know some basics. I wouldn't have been able to create any of the projects if I didn't have it. After two months I'm wondering if there is an even better option to try. I'm open to suggestions if it's a subscription at the same $20 a month level.
