Most underrated bottleneck in AI scaling

Everyone talks about data, algorithms, funding. but i think the actual bottleneck nobody talks about is compute access the big labs have massive GPU clusters. startups and researchers are stuck with whatever cloud credits they can scrape together. the gap between who has compute and who doesn't keeps widening is this actually a problem or am i overthinking it? feels like AI progress might slow down not because we're out of ideas but because compute is concentrated in like 5 companies. idk maybe that's just how it goes submitted by /u/srodland01 [link] [comments.
