Anthropic said Monday afternoon it had topped $30B in annualized revenue, implying growth surged 58% since the end of February. It also suggests the maker of the Claude chatbot may have surpassed OpenAI, which was generating $25B in annualized revenue in February. Despite its success, Anthropic isn’t winning any fans in the developer community as it tries to clamp down on people using Claude to power tools like the open-source AI agent OpenClaw. But the bigger worry may be why it is clamping down in the first place.
