When I saw this graph, my first reaction was: wow, that growth curve is incredible. As of November 2023, ChatGPT's weekly active users are just over 100M. By February 2026, that number will be nearing 1B. In just over two years, that's almost a tenfold increase. Do you realize what that means? It took Instagram 8 years to reach 1B users, and TikTok managed it in about 4 years. ChatGPT is doing it in just 2 years. If you look closely at the curve, there are some key turning points. Before August 2024, the growth was steady, hovering around 200M.
