Used Claude Code for 2 months. Switched to opencode. Some thoughts. A coworker asked me what AI coding tool I use. I said "opencode" and she said "why not Claude Code?" and I realized I didn't have a clean answer ready. So here's the actual answer. The code quality thing is a bit of a myth When you run opencode with the same model as Claude Code - Claude Sonnet, for example - the output is basically identical. A bunch of people who tested both side by side said the same thing. The differences aren't really about code quality, they're about workflow and cost.
