What does religion research see that AI research misses?

Hey everyone. An observation I keep running into. Predictions from inside AI research about how AI will reshape cultural institutions tend to assume a one-way pressure: AI does things, institutions adapt or die. The people who have actually studied how institutions absorb communication technology over decades see a different pattern. Institutions filter, and the filtering is not passive: it reshapes the technology that comes out the other side.
