Ideally, one would use libraries like Gym, NEAT, etc but he was stubborn and wanted to build everything from scratch. Anyhow, during that process, he used things like the foot’s angular momentum, hand’s velocity, torso’s energy and whatnot to feed into a neural network to see how it performs.
