A Designer's Core Value Is Judgment, Not Faster Drafting

When AI enters design work, the conversation often narrows to one question: who can draw faster? If AI can produce images faster, build models faster, and revise options faster, does that reduce the value of a designer? The question sounds sharp, but it defines design work too narrowly. Drawing and modeling matter, but they are only part of design expression and execution. In real projects, the scarce ability is not only drawing the line. It is knowing what is worth drawing, why it should be drawn that way, and when the project should stop drawing in the wrong direction.
