AI-assisted development has lowered the barrier to building software. It hasn’t eliminated the need to build it well. Vibe coding the now-common practice of using AI to generate and refine entire features via natural language prompts, pioneered in early 2025 by Andrej Karpathy’s description of a workflow where you ‘fully give in to the vibes’ has quietly become one of the most significant shifts in how software development happens today.
