A post in r/ChatGPT last week hit 600+ upvotes with this title: "Shadow AI is getting out of control in our company." The author was an IT director. Their company had rolled out Microsoft Copilot - full M365 integration, official licenses, the works. Usage rates: around 20%. Meanwhile, their browser proxy logs showed hundreds of employees hitting ChatGPT, Claude.ai, and Perplexity every day. On personal accounts. Unmonitored. Feeding company data into systems with zero visibility. The comments were full of people saying: same.
